Load auto rams tree; driver killed

A load auto driver, R. Muthukumar (32) of Nagercoil, died after the vehicle hit a roadside tree near Saminathapuram on Friday morning.

Muthukumar was going to Kanniyakumari to take a holy dip in Triveni Sangamam, along with his wife M. Rejila (27), son Rahul (8), daughters Sivaragavi (5) and Bargavi (3) and a relative, Kannan, when he lost control over the vehicle while trying to avoid hitting a dog. The vehicle hit the roadside tree, and Muthukumar and the others sustained grievous injuries.

They were rushed to Kanniyakumari Government Medical College Hospital (KGMCH), where Muthukumar succumbed to his injuries. The others are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Kanniyakumari police have registered a case.
