‘Keep TSP in abeyance for six more months’

The Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association has appealed to the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, to keep in abeyance the implementation of Total Solution Project (TSP) of the Commercial Taxes Department for another six months.

While congratulating Ms. Jayalalithaa for becoming the Chief Minister for the sixth time, secretary of the association S.V.S.S. Velshankar said that further extension of six months was needed as the shortcomings in the new regulation had to be overcome. The association expressed its gratitude to Ms. Jayalalithaa for promising to not to allow foreign direct investment in retail trade in the State.

It suggested a meeting of stakeholders with the concerned minister and officials to solve the practical problems in the levy of agricultural marketing committee cess. The association appealed to the Chief Minister not to take any action under the Food Safety and Standards Act against any food business operator till the defects and shortcomings in it were removed.

In a congratulatory message, the president of Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association president, L. Murari, appealed to the Chief Minister to attract big ticket investments to south Tamil Nadu.

In a statement, Mr. Murari also mooted a meeting of representatives of tiny and small industries to discuss the industrial scenario in the State and also the difficulties faced by this sector.
