Anbumani criticises Ministers for falling at feet of Jayalalithaa

April 30, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - Madurai:

Pattali Makkal Katchi leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Friday criticised the culture of Ministers falling at the feet of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

“Is this not shame? The PMK is for a decent and development-oriented politics,” he told reporters here. He criticised both the major Dravidian parties for “using prohibition as a poll plank”.

Referring to DMK’s manifesto, he said that there was no need for any legislation for ushering in prohibition as it could be done by an executive order. Similarly, action should be taken against persons selling illicit liquor once prohibition was enforced, he said.

Mr. Anbumani flayed both the AIADMK and the DMK of having promoted sale of IMFL through Tasmac retail shops and made the State a land of alcoholics.

“Three generations of people, including children, have become addicted to liquor,” he said. AIADMK’s promise of implementing prohibition in a phased manner showed that the party had fear of losing the election, he added.

The video of O. Panneerselvam and R. Viswanathan and a few other Ministers touching the road in worship as the Chief Minister sat in her car when she came to file nominations went viral on social networking platforms.
