Assuring that there would not be any interference in the police or public administration, if the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was elected to power, the party leader and MP K. Kanimozhi said that industrialisation would be the key focus with an eye on creating job opportunities across the State.

Campaigning for the DMK and its allies contesting in the 10 Assembly segments in the district, she said that the new government would give licence in 100 days from the date of receipt of application from entrepreneurs.

Industrial corridor

The much talked about Madurai-Thoothukudi industrial corridor would also become a reality if the DMK emerged victorious.

Starting at Othakadai, where despite showers the public waited for her arrival, Ms. Kanimozhi said that the AIADMK had miserably failed to deliver goods in the last five years. “When a government could not even issue new ration cards, but only renew the old ones, how do people rely on the AIADMK for another term and believe its promises,” she asked.

After the DMK assured to bring down the milk price by Rs. 7 in its manifesto, the AIADMK followed suit. The people should beware of such false promises made by the present rulers and take a wise decision by casting votes in favour of the DMK and its allies, she urged.

Taking a dig at her political opponent, she asked the people:

“When the AIADMK claimed that law and order was well maintained in the State, petrol bombs were hurled at AIADMK Minister Sellur K. Raju’s office by its party functionary in Madurai. Is it not a blatant lie to say that all is well”?”

Campaigning in Madurai Central constituency, Ms. Kanomozhi said that in the death of P. T. R. Palanivel Rajan, not only the DMK, but the people lost an able leader.

When the former Assembly Speaker was here, he did bring in a number of projects to the city.

Today, his son, P. T. R. P. Thiagarajan, was contesting in the DMK and his opponents were no match for him. The DMK had not only fielded new faces, but also able and educated people this time, she said.

Accompanied by the DMK and Congress leaders, she spoke at Melur, K. Pudur, Munichalai, Tamil Sangam Road, Simmakkal, Palanganatham, Tirupparankundram, Tirumangalam and Usilampatti.
