Raja Muthiah Hall here resonated with laughter on Friday with a jam-packed crowd as Humour Club, Madurai, celebrated its 25{+t}{+h}anniversary.

The sense of humour during the function was contagious that even the Minister for Cooperation ‘Sellur’ K. Raju, who must be accustomed to sober political speeches, revealed his humorous side by cracking jokes during his felicitation address.

N. Sethuraman, founder of Meenakshi Mission Hospital and founder-patron of the club, recollected how the club was started with a few members and active participation from youngsters. K. Gnana Sambandan, president and secretary of the club, recollected how several men who groomed their skills in the club had made a successful career in television and films. Many such artistes participated in the function and shared their fond memories of the club. As he could not attend in person, ‘Robo’ Shankar, actor and a member of Humour Club, Madurai, sent a voice message expressing his thankfulness to the club for playing a crucial role in grooming his career.

Later, film actor Mayilsamy, the chief guest, and Mr. Gnana Sambandan entered into a conversation on stage, sending waves of laughter among the audience.

Upcoming young talents were awarded at the function.
