TIRUNELVELI: Consequent to Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) Site Director R.S. Sundar’s promotion and transfer to Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited Headquarters in Mumbai, Hari Narayan Sahu, an Outstanding Scientist, took charge as Site Director, KKNPP.
Along with him a few more senior scientists took charge in their respective positions. While Mr. Sahu assumed office as Site Director, KKNPP, S.V. Jinna, an Outstanding Scientist, took charge as Station Director, KKNPP – Reactors l and 2. Suresh Kumar Pillai became Chief Superintendent of KKNPP 1 and 2.
After his graduation in Mechanical Engineering in Muzzaffarpur Institute of Technology, University of Bihar, Mr. Sahu joined the 25th batch of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Training School, Mumbai, and joined the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) in 1981. He was the Senior Licensed Engineer in the Indian Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors for eight years.
He joined the KKNPP Directorate in 2002 to obtain formal training in Russia to operate VVER reactors. He became the first occupier for the two 1,000 MWe VVER reactors in India by becoming the Station Director in 2012.
Mr. Jinna is an Electrical Engineer graduated from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, and belonged to the 28th batch of BARC Training School. He joined the DAE in 1984. He was in the Control and Instrumentation Department as a Design Engineer for Indian nuclear power plants.
Since 2002, he has been working in the KKNPP in different positions.
In May 2012, he became the Chief Superintendent.
