Man held on charge of stealing motorcycle

The Kochi city police have arrested a native of Erattupetta on charge of stealing a motorcycle from Athani near Kakkanad.

The accused, Jabbar (46), was arrested by the Infopark police and a crime squad from Tirupur district in Tamil Nadu.

The accused, who had left for Tamil Nadu after the theft, was traced with the help of the cyber cell.

Investigations revealed that Jabbar was also involved in several cases of theft and impersonation. In some cases, he had impersonated himself as a policeman in order to commit robbery.

The Infopark police said that the accused had cases against him Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts.

Vanishing act

After committing a theft, Jabbar would go into hiding where he would start relationships with new women. After staying with them for a few months, Jabbar would dupe them of their money and gold, said the police.

According to the police, the accused has 12 wives at various places.

The police have also recovered the two-wheeler Jabbar allegedly stole from Athani.

He was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
