Control rooms opened at taluk officesand civil station; special squads deployed

The district administration has warned of stringent action against those who, under the cover of successive administrative holidays this week, take to reclaiming wetland and paddy fields and those who fleece people by selling products above the maximum retail price (MRP).

District Collector Mohammed Y. Safirulla said action was being initiated consequent on a large number of complaints received by the district administration against such practices.

Accordingly, control rooms have been opened at taluk offices and the civil station to monitor the situation and help people file complaints.

The police and Revenue officials have been alerted to complaints against reclamation of wetland and paddy fields. Special squads, led by tahsildars, will visit places where instances of reclamation are reported.

The Collector said selling products above their MRP was illegal, and that the Legal Metrology Department will act against such practices.
