KWA drive against defaulters

About 90 per cent of the 1.65 lakh consumers who had incurred arrears in water charges in Kochi Corporation areas and Cheranalloor, Kadamakudi, Mulavukad, Chellanam and Kumbalanghi panchayat have cleared their dues, according to the Kerala Water Authority.

An official release issued here said that the settlement of water arrears could be achieved through the ‘water arrears free region’ initiative of the authority. Water connections of defaulters were disconnected as part of the drive. The water connections of consumers who had failed to replace faulty meters were also disconnected.

The P.H. division of the authority had netted a record Rs. 63.05 crore revenue in the last fiscal.
