Kerala judge withdraws VRS application

February 02, 2016 12:32 am | Updated 12:32 am IST - KOCHI:

S.S. Vasan, the Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge (Vigilance), Thrissur, who sought to voluntarily retire from the service following a High Court observation against him in a controversial judgement, sought to withdraw his application on Monday.

In his application, which was submitted to the Registrar (Subordinate Judiciary) of the High Court of Kerala, the judge wanted to withdraw his “request on the basis of reconsideration of entire circumstances and as directed by the High Court,” judicial sources said.

It was the order issued by Mr. Vasan to register a First Information Report against the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Power Minister Aryadan Mohammed, following a petition that came up before him, that had created a political storm in the State.

The Vigilance judge ordered the registration of FIR following a petition on the depositions of Saritha S. Nair before the solar commission.
