In the wake of senior Congress leaders V.M. Sudheeran, Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala visiting Udayamperoor, where clashes between the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] and the Congress have marred public life for a few days now, the CPI(M) district committee has accused the Congress of instigating tension as part of a conspiracy hatched to malign the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government and the Home Department across the State.
CPI(M) district secretary P. Rajeev, in a statement, alleged that the Udayamperoor panchayat president and mandalam president of Congress led the attack against SFI leaders Pranoy Narayanan, Arjun Babu, Vysakh Mohan and Akshay.
‘Misleading people’
He said the Congress was trying to mislead people by first carrying out the attack and then blocking the road in protest. That the top leaders of the KPCC reiterated the fabricated version of the local leaders only demonstrated that there was a conspiracy against the CPI(M), he alleged.
