August 05, 2016 09:37 pm | Updated 09:37 pm IST - KOCHI:

A man and his son duo had a narrow escape when the car in which they were travelling caught fire near Cheranalloor on the Container Road on Friday morning.

The incident took place between Manjumal and Cheranalloor junctions at 8.05 a.m. A motorcycle rider alerted Noushad A., who was behind the wheel, about smoke rising from the front of the car. Noushad, a resident of Eloor Kuttikattukara, was taking his son to school at Edappally. No sooner had he parked the car along the road than it caught fire. The air conditioner of the car was on.

The car, bought two months ago, was completely gutted.

The incident disrupted traffic along the stretch for a while. Fire and Rescue Services personnel from Eroor rushed to the spot and doused the flames. Fire force personnel attributed the fire to a short circuit problem.
