Call to reduce price of essential drugs

The ongoing national annual meet of the Federation of Medical and Sales Representatives Associations of India (FMRAI) has called for a reduction in the price of essential drugs and the fixing of prices based on the cost of production.

The conference also described as anti-people the “free hand” given to drug companies to increase the prices of the drugs by 10 per cent once a year, said an FMRAI release.

The conference which began on Thursday is being attended by nearly 1,000 delegates from various parts of the country. It will conclude on Sunday.

Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) all-India general secretary Tapan Sen addressed the meet.

The delegate session was inaugurated by former Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem.
