Odisha natives held

for selling tobacco

The Perumbavoor police on Monday arrested two Odisha natives and seized around 900 packets of tobacco products from them. The arrested have been identified as Anantha, 24, and Pintu, 19. They used to bring tobacco consignments from their home State by trains and sell them to youngsters, especially students. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested them from a location near the Government Higher secondary school at Perumbavoor. The accused have been booked under provisions of the Control of Tobacco Products Act (COPTA) and produced in a local court. – Staff Reporter
