The YSR Congress has asked AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to order an inquiry by an independent authority to ascertain the genuineness of the declaration of his family assets by his son Lokesh.
YSRC official spokesman Ambati Rambabu said it was a futile exercise laden with distortions.
“The declaration of the Chief Minister’s assets [Rs. 42 lakh], for instance, will not tally with the cost involved in rebuilding his house, leave alone the other assets of the family,” he added.
“The Chief Minister should institute an inquiry by a retired judge or a mutually acceptable auditor, if he is sincere about the declaration of assets by Mr. Lokesh,” he said. Similar is the case with the assets declared in the name of Mr. Lokesh and Mr. Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneswari, as the figures did not add up, Mr. Rambabu added.
“I-T returns were not added to the figures. The entire exercise is aimed at diverting people’s attention from the scandals in the name of capital construction,” he said.
