‘TS should be remembered for its armed struggle’

June 03, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 16, 2016 10:09 am IST - HYDERABAD:

CPI Telangana State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy called for rededication of the party towards achieving Telangana devoid of social and people’s issues. Speaking on the occasion of the Telangana Formation Day, he said Telangana should be remembered for its armed struggle waged for freedom from the Nizam’s rule.

He criticised the TRS government for encouraging defections instead of working for development of the State. While students of Osmania University played a prominent role in the Telangana movement, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was appropriating all the credit for the statehood to himself, he alleged.

Former MLC K. Nageshwar said Telangana is not a political or geographical arrangement, but it is an amalgam of social groups such as farmers, labourers, Singareni workers and Pochampally weavers.

Cong. holds grand celebrations

At Gandhi Bhavan, top Congress leaders attended the Formation Day celebrations and thanked party president Sonia Gandhi for gifting the separate State. TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said there was nothing much for the TRS government to celebrate as it had failed to fulfil the promises made to the people.

TRS should work for the State’s development instead of encouraging defections
