Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) vice-president and head, Government Industry Solutions Unit (ISU), Tanmoy Chakrabarty and head, State Government Delivery Unit-India Nitya Jain and other officials of the IT major called on Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Jupally Krishna Rao.
Mr. Chakrabarty expressed the TCS’ desire to work with the government of Telangana with regard to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). He informed the Minister that attendance with biometric tool integrated with Aadhaar was being implemented in three Gram Panchayats in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.
A pilot project was also ready for implemention in West Bengal, where its approval was kept in abeyance due to elections. He explained about various practices being in Maharashtra and which could be implemented in Telangana too.
The Minister asked the TCS team to come up with a presentation addressing the muster roll management having photographs and measurements. Further, it should integrate Aadhaar and should be cost-effective, he said adding that the technology should simplify processes and works.
He explained to them about the presentation on irrigation given by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the Assembly in March, where it was shown that with measurements one could calculate the amount of water, its depths and others accurately. He said technology should be useful to measure and monitor the work.
