K.D. Mallesh Naidu, Gateman working in Vijayawada Division of the South Central Railway was presented with the Man of the Month award for exhibiting alertness in performing duty by closing the gate on approach of express train when the station staff failed to inform him about the arrival of the train.
The award was given by South Central Railway General Manager Ravindra Gupta. Earlier, he held a review of safety and punctuality of railways in the zone where officials from six divisions participated. The meeting discussed the monsoon preparedness and safety situation. Mr. Gupta advised the Divisional Railway Managers to take up monsoon patrolling on all vulnerable sections as per the schedule, identify the vulnerable bridges and locations so as to take all precautionary measures. He also advised them to set up automatic water-level monitoring systems wherever required.
