‘Release degree certificates’

Two of them climb the roof of the DME office and threaten to jump

July 10, 2014 12:23 am | Updated 12:23 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Nearly 50 medical students who have completed their post-graduation, on Wednesday staged a dharna in front of the Director of Medical Education (DME) office, demanding the release of their degree certificates.

Tense moments prevailed when two medicos, who had climbed the roof of the DME office, threatened to jump before they were pacified by their colleagues.

Medicos are demanding that health authorities should not link one-year mandatory rural service with the release of their degree certificates.

“The High Court has recently given an order that the certificates of PG medical students should not be held back. Despite the court order, health authorities are not releasing our certificates,” protesting medicos said. They alleged that 1,500 postgraduate doctors were yet to receive degree certificates.
