Behind every frame at the ‘Kindred Nations: the United States and India, 1783-1947’ exhibition at the Salar Jung Museum is a story, a tale spawning centuries of people-to-people ties from two nations across seas.

Comprising photographs, paintings and clippings from newspapers, the exhibition highlights the strong bonds that existed between the two countries even prior to India’s Independence.

At a reception hosted for business leaders, the US Consul General Michael Mullins on Friday said the “very first bonds between our two countries were in fact commercial ties. Shortly after the US was born, merchant mariners from the East Coast began to visit India for trade.”

The exhibition is on till September 13.
