Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao along with a high-level delegation comprising Ministers and officials will visit Mumbai on Tuesday to witness the signing of an agreement between the Governments of Telangana and Maharashtra on the construction of five barrages and two projects across Penganga, Pranahitha and Godavari rivers.
Officials of the two States are expected to sign the agreement being termed historic by Telangana Government during the Godavari Inter-State Board meeting scheduled there, in which Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis along with a high-level team of Ministers and officials of that government will participate.
Agreement will be signed on Tummidihatti and Medigadda barrages as part of Pranahitha and Kaleshwaram projects and three more barrages across Pengaga river at Chankha-Korata, Rajapet and Pimparad-Parsoda. Besides, the pact will also cover Lendi and Lower Penganga projects in Telangana, pending for decades due to lack of clearances from Maharashtra. Mr. Rao along with the high-level delegation will leave for Mumbai on Tuesday morning in a special flight and participate in the Inter-State Board meeting scheduled at 3 p.m. at Sahyadri Guesthouse. The signing of agreement will take place during that meeting. Mr. Rao visited Mumbai twice already and held talks with his Maharashtra counterpart on the issue of resolving disputes related to irrigation projects. Ministers T. Harish Rao, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Jogu Ramanna, G. Jagadish Reddy, Advisor to Government R. Vidyasagar Rao, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, Special Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi, Principal Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Chief Engineers N. Venkatshwarlu, K. Bhagawanth Rao, OSD Sridhar Rao Deshpande and other will also participated in the inter-state meeting.
Meanwhile, the State Government has planned a grand reception to the Chief Minister on his return from Mumbai on Wednesday after singing the “historic” agreement.
