An auto-rickshaw driver was murdered by his wife and brother-in-law at Madannapet on Wednesday following a quarrel. The deceased, Mohd. Jaffar (30), a resident of Upparbasthi in Madannapet reportedly picked up an argument with his wife Fatima Begum over a trivial issue on Tuesday night.

Her brother Parvez, who was also present in the house, questioned Jaffar over his behaviour. In a fit of rage, the duo attacked Jaffar, smashing a boulder on his head, leading to severe injuries, Madannapet Additional Inspector K.P.V. Raju said.

After Jaffar collapsed, the brother-sister duo tried to shift him to some place in an autorickshaw. However, the vehicle broke down after travelling some distance. Later, on spotting a police van, the duo left the injured Jaffar in the vehicle and fled.

Police shifted Jaffar to Osmania General Hospital for treatment where he died while undergoing treatment on Wednesday morning. Police have registered a case of murder under Section 302 of the IPC. A search is on for the accused.
