Maid suspected of stealing jewellery worth Rs. 10 lakh

A housemaid allegedly took away gold ornaments worth Rs.10 lakh from her employer’s house at Charminar on Sunday.

The woman, Jagdevi (32), was working at the house of a businessman Yogesh Gupta at Shakker Kotha under Charminar police station limits.

On Sunday afternoon, Yogesh went out along with his family to attend a function.

Cash also stolen

“The man locked the bedroom and kept the keys in the table drawer before leaving the house. Jagadevi took the keys and opened the room and collected the jewellery and some cash from the cupboard and re-locked the door,” Charminar Detective Inspector Ch. Chandrasekhar said.

Yogesh who returned in the evening found the ornaments missing and made a complaint with the police.

Woman held

The woman was reportedly caught late in the evening by the police and efforts were being made to recover the stolen property.
