July 22, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - HYDERABAD:

It might take months for the Metro Rail project to reach the Madhapur-Gachibowli stretch. The reason is the underpass that is being constructed as part of the Strategic Road Development Plans (SRDP), a multi-level flyover project initiated by the TRS government. Presently, excavation works, which include cutting and removing of rocks, is underway near the Raheja Mindspace junction that leads to Biodiversity Park.

According to the GHMC officials, it will take a minimum of six more months to complete construction of the underpass at the site, after which it will be handed over to the Hyderabad Metro Rail. The entire stretch has been closed for regular traffic to speed up the works. The officials informed that the focus is on to complete the construction of that part of underpass that runs parallel to the proposed Metro station to come up near the Biodiversity Park. After the completion of this bit, the work will begin on the Raheja Mindspace-Cyber Towers stretch.
