LSP will continue without JP, says Katari

March 24, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:54 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The breakaway group of Loksatta Party headed by its national president Katari Srinivasa Rao has made it clear that the party activities will continue as usual.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao was a close associate of party founder-president Jayaprakash Narayan as party general secretary in the united Andhra Pradesh. He parted ways later with the Loksatta leader over organisational matters and formed a parallel Loksatta Party.

Reacting to party founder Jayaprakash Narayan’s announcement on Tuesday that Loksatta would cease to take part in electoral politics and would go back to being a political movement, Mr. Rao and his State unit president D.V.V.S. Varma made it clear that Loksatta Party came into existence to transform politics.

It would continue to strive for an alternative political system. Dr. Narayan and his team were free to confine their activities to Loksatta movement, they said.
