Lok Satta Party national president Jayaprakash Narayan on Sunday said the party was prepared to face any inquiry, either by the Election Commission of India, the Central Bureau of Investigation, or the Delhi Police, into allegations hurled against it in the wake of a sting operation against Anurag Kejriwal, its Delhi unit president.
In a press release, Dr. Jayaparakash Narayan pointed out that Mr. Kejriwal had been expelled the moment his ‘inexcusable’ conduct came to light, without going through the motions of an inquiry. Expressing distress over concerted moves in certain media to besmirch the image of the Lok Satta, he said it appeared to be a conspiracy to undermine its credibility when the general elections were coming.
Mr. Kejriwal was expelled following a sting operation by a news channel in which he was seen bragging about his ability to influence party leadership to work for certain vested interests. He also expressed willingness to field dummy candidates in the Delhi Assembly election to undercut other parties, apart from being seen discussing the quantum of funds required for the party’s campaign currently underway in Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan is contesting for the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat.
