Acting Chief Justice of the Hyderabad High Court, Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale, on Sunday said the powers-that-be in the judiciary were always open to the ‘just’ demands of the staff and recognised the hard work that they put in.

“I am pleased that the Hyderabad High Court has the distinction of implementing the maximum number of recommendations made by the Jagannath Shetty Commission and am sure that other High Courts would also follow suit. I also promise that we will leave no stone unturned in meeting your expectations,” he said, to thunderous applause after inaugurating a national conference of the All India Judicial Employees’ Confederation (AIJEC).

However, the highly-articulate Judge that he is, Mr. Justice Dilip Babasaheb was quick to drive home the point from their side, saying how important it was for judicial employees to strive harder and ensure that they did not lose the faith and trust the common man had in the judiciary as an institution.

“I would like to tell you how imperative it is for you to meet expectations of litigants when they come to you. The day you lose that faith will be the beginning of anarchy,” he warned.

As an example, he regretted that there were instances when it took weeks for litigants to get a certified copy of judgements. While acknowledging the Confederation president, Shakeel Ahmed Moin, who earlier reminded those on the dais that it was the judicial staff who prepared the all-important decree based on which the judgement was delivered, the Acting CJ said it was important for them to protect the image of the judiciary at any cost.

On Hyderabad High Court being pro-active over the Jagannath Shetty Commission’s recommendations, he said that among them were a special increment to different categories of employees, the special Telangana increment that was promised by Government of Telangana, a fixed, monthly medical allowance apart from the reimbursement of hospital bills and a weekly off for those working in the residences of Judges.

Mr. Moin urged the Acting Chief Justice and Judges R. Subhash Reddy and G. Chandraiah to use their good offices and see that arrears to employees, pending since the year 2013, were released by December 31, 2015.

Earlier, the organising secretary of the confederation, B. Lakshma Reddy, welcomed the impressive gathering of delegates from across the nation.
