Information Technology and Municipal Administration Minister K.T. Rama Rao currently in New Delhi met various Union Ministers to seek their financial and other assistance to take up various projects in the capital and elsewhere in the State.

First, he met Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu where he sought Rs. 785-crore loan from Hudco for land acquisition and other infrastructure work for the proposed pharma city on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The facility would be pollution-free and there was no need for any apprehensions about land acquisition, he said.

For the rejuvenation of river Musi, Rs.930 crore under the National River Conservation Plan was also sought. Mr. Rao reminded that Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao had approached the BRICS Bank for Rs.75,000-crore assistance to take up several municipal works including flyovers, drains and roads.

The Centre should help lobby for the State to get loan from the funding agency, he said.

Towards evening, he called on Textiles Minister Smrithi Irani and apprised her of the problems being faced by weavers at Sircilla, Pochampalli, Gadwal and Narayanpet.

The Union Minister promised to personally visit these areas to see for herself the plight of the weavers. She also promised to assist setting up of a textile park in Warangal.

Mr. Rao also wanted aid in taking up new textile clusters and training for weavers.
