Inter-State robbery gang busted

The city police nabbed five members of an inter-State gang from Bhiwandi in Maharashtra, involved in multiple cases of robbery in the city. The accused, Amir Yasin Shaik, Akram Raju Shaik, Aslam Asgar Ali Shaik, Amin Munshi Shaik and Nasir Ahamad Khan committed offences under Begumbazar and Gopalpuram police station limits.

According to the police, the gang including some others who were absconding, had come to the city after zeroing in on business areas. The gang members used to target people carrying bags by attacking them and fleeing with the loot.

After a series of such robberies, the gang left for hometown in Thane district and distributed the stolen cash and items among themselves.

The gang had robbed Rs 25,000 from one person near Elephanta under bridge, Rs 10,000 from another near osmangunj and Rs one lakh in Begumbazar this year. The gang had also committed similar crimes in Bengaluru, Chennai and Mumbai.

The gang was caught near Secunderabad Railway Station while trying to commit another robbery.
