Swedish home furnishing brand IKEA, which had a couple of months ago purchased 13 acres in the city for setting up a store, on Tuesday sought stakeholder’s opinion to ascertain what “is important to the people of Hyderabad.”
Government officials, industry leaders and opinion leaders, suppliers to the firm, NGOs, IKEA management and potential customers attended the workshop. “The group ideated and defined common grounds and the roadmap that IKEA should adopt in Hyderabad to become the most meaningful brand by 2025,” a release from the company said.
IKEA India Country Head Juvencio Maeztu said for the company “the stakes are high and opportunity really inspiring. The insights will better understand the local community and help create a solid plan to be a good neighbour and a friend to the people of Hyderabad.”
Special Chief Secretary Pradeep Chandra said: “The workshop is unique and great initiative to know the local market and consumers better. Telangana is a promising State and will play an important role in IKEA’s India journey.” In early July, the company had announced the land purchase in Hyderabad. Sources said typically, the investments on IKEA stores are Rs.500-600 crore in land and store.
