Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad hope to raise Rs. 1,000 crore for the State government by regularising 671 acres of urban ceiling land in the two districts.
Collectors of the districts on Saturday detailed the procedure for application. Application for regularisation should be made before June 25, failing which those occupying ceiling lands will be prosecuted. The cost for regularisation depends on the value of land as on May 26, when GO 92 when guidelines for the regularisation was issued.
For possession up to 250 square yards, the State is demanding 25 percent of the basic value while those possessing up to 500 square yards have to pay half of the basic value. For lands more than 500 square yards, 75 percent of the basic value will have to be paid. However, for 125 square yards in notified slums, the cost of regularisation is 10 percent of basic value.
In Hyderabad district alone, the government has identified 71 acres of open ceiling land that can be regularised. These lands are said to have been occupied but structures exist on them. The total extent of land is spread across all the mandals.
Instalments
Its neighbouring district Ranga Reddy has around 600 acres of identified ULC lands that can be regularised for revenue by the government. The government has announced that payment can be made in instalments. Application for regularisation has to be made in mandal revenue offices. A fee of Rs. 2,000 has to be made with the application.
Urban Land Ceiling Act, 1976, capped land-holding per person in urban agglomerates at 1,000 square yards. In 2008, undivided Andhra Pradesh repealed the Act.
