HMWS&SB bags HUDCO award

Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K.T. Rama Rao received the HUDCO award in recognition of efficient and regulated water supply through Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), on the 46{+t}{+h}Foundation Day of HUDCO in New Delhi on Monday.

Speaking after receiving the award from the Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu, Mr. Rama Rao said the challenge of providing drinking water is being met through Krishna Phase III and Godavari Phase I projects. A total of 350 million gallons of water is being supplied every day to the city now, as against the 150 million gallons of water supplied earlier.

He also said percolation tanks will be made mandatory for all houses, and promised to take measures to supply water to the newly added areas to the city. Mr. Naidu said a legislation is necessary for making percolation tanks and check-dams mandatory for conservation of water. HUDCO award was also given to Telangana Housing Department for improved construction of double bedroom houses, and Telangana Grameena Bank for expediting loans for construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna, a press release informed.
