Low cost airline flydubai is setting up its first Indian Development Centre in Hyderabad.
The IDC will lead the airline’s IT and technology innovation, besides serving as a hub for software development, research and operations.
Announcing the same in a release on Thursday, flydubai also stated that Hyderabad-based tech start-up HackMania has been selected to promote its Application Programming Interface (API) app store.
A talent acquisition product firm, HackMania will mobilise and vet coders before they take part in a hackathon the airline will conduct next month at T-Hub here. The programme will begin at 9 a.m on July 9 and conclude at 4 p.m. on July 10. Hackers can register by July 5 on Hackerbay.co.
flydubai said a series of hackathons are to be conducted throughout the year to enable hackers across India develop products covering various themes around air travel and customer experience. Winners will be offered an internship with the airline and get an opportunity to incubate their ideas and contribute to flydubai’s app store. HackMania founder and CEO Rajat Shahi said more than 100 hackers are expected to participate in the programme next month, and around 15 working prototypes would be developed.
