Removal of footpath at Jubilee Hills and along the Kasu Brahmanand Reddy (KBR) Park has added to the woes of pedestrians in the city where facilities for those on feet are limited.
With the footpaths dug up for ductwork taken up by different agencies in these parts, the pedestrians are forced to walk on roads which, for most part of the day, remain congested due to heavy traffic flow.
According to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) staff, the footpath near Jubilee Hills check post was dug up for laying of cables by the Electricity Department.
“They are relaying some more cables and once the work is over, we will be putting back the pavement,” said an official.
The long stretch between the KBR Park and Filmnagar had the pavements removed for cable work taken up by a private mobile operator.
The work was completed and the service provider paid the due amount to the civic body for relaying of the dug up stretch.
“The work on relaying the footpath on this stretch will be taken up soon,” the official added.
