Khammam MLA of Congress, Puvva Ajay Kumar, and a MLC of the party, Farooq Hussain, joined the TRS here today in the presence of its president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Mr. Ajay Kumar, who announced his resignation from Congress on Sunday, is the sixth MLA of the party to switch loyalties to TRS. Two MLAs of Congress also died, brining down its tally in the Assembly from 21 to 13. On the other hand, the strength of TRS went up from 63 to 86 since elections.
Mr. Farooq Hussain hailed from Siddipet, the native place of Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao.
He was the Congress councillor of Siddipet municipality during 1986-91 when Mr. Rao was the local MLA.
