Congolese murder: police gets custody of Roopesh

July 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Cyberabad-West police will take businessman Roopesh, who was lodged in prison on charge of murdering his wife Cynthia -a national of Congo-, into custody for three days from Wednesday.

A local court on Tuesday has consented to the petition of Kukatpally Central Crime Station - investigating into the Congolese murder- seeking Roopesh’s custody.

He would be presented before the court on Saturday. The court has also allowed the petition to collect blood samples of the couple’s eight-year-old daughter Sania for conducting DNA fingerprinting test.

The girl would be taken to Forensic Science Laboratory on Friday for collection of samples. The DNA fingerprints would be matched with that of her mother Cynthia. “The samples of the kid are being collected to establish the identity of Cynthia who was murdered and torched beyond recognition,” the investigators said.

The sensational murder of the foreigner was reported in the area of Shamshabad when her husband was caught by locals, while fleeing after burning her body parts.

Later, he admitted to the police that he had strangled her to death in a fit of rage following arguments over family matters and butchered her body into eight parts. No final decision was taken on the custody of Sania yet. As per the court direction, she was sent to Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust Home located at Hydershahkot in Narsingi.
