“Beware of BJP’s communal agenda”

April 17, 2014 12:56 am | Updated May 21, 2016 11:42 am IST - KARIMNAGAR:

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday cautioned the people to be careful about the communal agenda being propagated by the BJP.

Addressing a Congress rally here, Ms. Gandhi said the secular fabric of the nation was under threat because of the communal agenda being spread by the BJP and its frontal organisations.

Stating that former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi had sacrificed their lives protecting the secular fabric of the country, Ms. Gandhi said the Congress never discriminated on the ground of caste, creed and religion.

But, the BJP and its organisations had always raked up communal passion. Referring to the TDP’s alliance with the BJP, she said more regional parties could follow suit. “Maybe in the coming days, more regional parties may join hands with the communal party,” she warned.

She appealed to the people to be cautious about such parties.
