A fifth class student was raped allegedly by a 75-year-old man in a washroom at her house in L.B. Nagar on Friday.
The accused, Butchaiah, working as a security guard, suddenly entered the washroom when the girl was washing her face to go to school and violated her. The girl then informed the matter to her parents after they returned home from their workplace. The victim’s family and the security guard were staying in rented portions in the same building, said L.B. Nagar Inspector E. Srinivas Reddy.
Based on a complaint lodged by the family, the police booked a case against the security guard under the Nirbhaya Act along with Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act case and took him into custody.
Attempt to rapeAt Raidurgam, a 30-year-old man tried to rape a six-year-old school dropout at his house on Friday. The accused Venu, a neighbour of the girl’s family, attempted to take the girl into his residence forcibly. When she raised an alarm, local residents rushed to her house. On seeing the irate residents, Venu ran away from the spot.
Raidurgam Inspector A. Balakoti said, “We booked a case against Venu under Nirbhaya Act and launched a hunt to trace him.”
