Yet another acid attack

December 02, 2014 08:33 am | Updated April 07, 2016 02:25 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A 55-year-old man attacked a woman with acid who allegedly spurned his advances in Outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri on Sunday. The 40-year-old woman, however, escaped with few burns and has been discharged from hospital.

The accused, Gopal, was arrested after he initially managed to give the police a slip.

During interrogation, the accused told the police that he and the victim had a heated exchange before the incident. A police officer said he was angry at the victim’s indifferent attitude towards him.

“He claimed that when the woman’s husband died a few years ago, he stepped in to help her financially. Gopal says he was in a relationship with Raman after her husband’s death. And when she started seeing someone else, it enraged him leading to frequent fights,” said the officer.
