Vijender seeks report on citizens’ right

August 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 06:00 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta met Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Friday and urged him to seek a report within-a-week from the Chief Secretary of Delhi Government about implementation of the Act pertaining to citizens’ right to time-bound delivery of services.

“The LG assured us that he would seek a report from the Chief Secretary on the issue,” said Mr Gupta who led the delegation of BJP MLAs comprising O.P. Sharma and Jagdish Pradhan for the meeting.

The assurance came following the BJP MLAs complaint that the Delhi Government is blatantly violating rights of citizens to provide for delivery of services within stipulated time limit under the Delhi (Right of Citizen to Time Bound Delivery of Services) Act – 2011.

The Act guarantees citizens’ right to obtain a wide spectrum of services according to a time-bound schedule. But these rights have been violated without any concern for citizens during the last six months of the Kejriwal Government.

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP workers have started a series of demonstrations at weekly subzi mandis.
