Chandra Bhushan Kumar, Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer, spoke to Sidhartha Roy about the Janaagraha findings:

Q. A study carried out by Janaagraha points out glaring irregularities in voters’ list of Delhi. What is your take on it?

A. The survey was carried out in October 2014, when the draft roll was prepared. The final roll was completed only on January 5, 2015. The key issue here is what data they are relying on because the survey was done much before the final list.

Also, one has to look into the sample size they are working with and if you agree with the analysis they have come up with. It is difficult to even comment on the findings because the study is based on faulty premise.

Q. Is there a possibility that the errors being cited could have affected the voting process?

A. We saw over 67% voter turnout and there has been no complaints of any errors and not a single issue was raised on the polling day. In fact, the study itself points out that only 2% voters faced any difficulty in voting.
