Black flags were on Sunday shown to Punjab Cabinet Minister Anil Joshi by SAD workers, who alleged that they were denied submission of a memorandum pertaining to local civic body to the senior BJP leader.
The SAD workers, led by local leader Balbir Singh Bittu, raised slogans against Mr. Joshi and the BJP.
The SAD workers claimed that they were prevented by the BJP workers from submitting a memorandum over some issues pertaining to the local civic body which they wanted to hand over to Mr. Joshi.
A group of BJP workers who were also present during the incident started raising slogans in favour of the BJP and Mr. Joshi.
Police averted a clash between both ruling alliance partners.
Mr. Joshi was here to inaugurate the night shelter which was constructed by Municipal Council here.
Meanwhile, Mr. Joshi has said that the Punjab government would spend Rs 8,000 crore on infrastructure development in all urban areas of the State till 2017.
Talking to mediapersons at Batala after laying foundation stone of a night shelter, he said that State government would provide cent per cent basic amenities like water supply, sewerage, roads and street lights in the all 160 municipal councils and 10 municipal corporations.
The State has been divided into eight clusters to set up solid waste plants, he added. PTI
