Prisoner attacked inside Rohini Jail

: A prisoner in Rohini Jail was injured after three of his fellow inmates attacked him with sharp objects on Tuesday.

The jail administration has reported the matter to the police while the treatment of the victim, murder accused Chandraprakash (30), is on.

A jail official said Chandraprakash was standing outside his ward when Joga, Mukesh Pandit and Karan arrived armed with spoons and other kitchen objects modified as sharp weapons and attacked him. The security personnel intervened and the matter was reported to the jail warden.

The accused have been booked under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 34 (Common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

Sources further said Chandraprakash was first arrested in 2012 in connection with a murder in Sangam Vihar. He was initially lodged in Tihar Jail where he befriended one Manoj. Later, he jumped parole and joined Manoj’s other accomplices in committing robberies. In 2013, the South district police arrested him at Malviya Nagar and he was sent to Rohini Jail.
