For women students wanting to work or enrol in a professional course while earning an undergraduate degree in B.A. (Programme) or B.Com, courses offered by the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) have become a popular option.
With classes held over the weekend or during semester breaks, there are 25 colleges in the city with B.A. (Programme) having 284 seats and B.Com having 184 seats in each centre. Only women candidates residing in Delhi are eligible for admission to various courses at the NCWEB. Delhi University released the third cut-off list for admission into these courses on Sunday night. Students pursuing these courses are not allowed to enrol in any other full-time degree course.
In the third list, for general category for B.A. (Programme), the highest qualifying percentage required, has been asked for by the centre at Miranda House. It stands at 76 pet cent. The lowest has been asked for by Aditi Mahavidyalaya and Bhagini Nivedita College at 63 per cent.
For B.Com, the centres at Miranda house and Hans Raj College have set their cut-offs at 82 per cent. Most other college centres require marks above 70 per cent for admission
This year, new NCWEB centres have come up at Aditi Mahavidyalaya College, Aryabhatta College, Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, Bhagini Nivedita College, College of Vocational Studies, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Miranda House, Motilal Nehru College, Rajdhani College, Ramanujan College and Aurobindo College. Students have been advised by Delhi University to choose centres that are close to their homes or places of work. Attendance is compulsory to be eligible to take the year-end exams. There are 50 sessions every year.
Admissions under the third list will take place from July 25 to July 27 at the respective teaching centres.
