Mayur Vihar murder: suspect was well known to victim

The victim had been allegedly blackmailing her with a video clip

: A day after a 64-year-old retired government employee from Kerala was found murdered in his flat at Samachar Apartments in Mayur Vihar Phase-I Extension, investigators said a woman who had emerged as the main suspect had spent nearly two hours at his house.

Her identity is yet to be established.

The woman is seen entering the apartments at 10 a.m. and nearly two hours later is seen leaving, but this time with a television wrapped with a white cloth she had taken from the house of deceased Vijaykumar. The woman is wearing a black top and jeans.

Lapse in security?

A police officer said they suspected that the woman was well known to the deceased and she would never make an entry into the guest register at Samachar Apartments, an alleged lapse raising questions over the security there. .

Even on Wednesday there was no entry against flat number 129 where Mr. Vijaykumar lived with his wife Vasundhara.

“We are also checking his call details. There could be others involved,” said the officer.

Meanwhile, the family is learnt to have told the police that they did not know any such woman.

Mr. Vijaykumar’s naked body was found in one of the bedrooms.

It had multiple stab wounds which were inflicted in a manner that bore signs of vindictiveness in the attack, the police had said.
