Heroin worth Rs.16 crore seized

: With the arrest of four alleged drug traffickers, the Delhi Police Special Cell has claimed to have busted an inter-State gang and seized 4 kg of heroin worth Rs. 16 crore in the international market.

Main accused Samir Malik was arrested from West Bengal, while his accomplices - Ganesh Haldar, Manik Biswas and Johri- were arrested from Gokulpuri flyover, the police said.

“A total of 4 kg heroin worth Rs. 16 crore was recovered from the accused. The gang was under the surveillance of the cell for the past four months and it was found that they were supplying heroin to Bareilly and Delhi, DCP (Special Cell),” said a senior police officer.On June 23, the police received a tip-off that the accused would come near Gokulpuri flyover to deliver a huge consignment of heroin. A police team laid a trap at the location.

“Around 7-45 p.m. the accused came to the area to deliver the consignment. Johri, Ganesh and Manik were apprehended from the spot along with the buyers. During the search 4 kg heroin was recovered from the suppliers,” said the officer.
