: Four youths from a family on Saturday drowned while swimming in the Yamuna canal that passes through Outer Delhi’s Alipur.

The victims were all aged between 18 and 23. Their bodies were fished out after three hours of combined efforts of the police, the fire department, and the Delhi Boat Club. The youths have been identified as Ravi, Bhudram, Amit and Vikas, all residents of Tikri Khurd village. They had gone swimming along with four other youths of their family.

“The youths were ignorant of the depth of the canal and the speed of the water flow,” said a senior police officer.

“For now, there appears to be no foul play,” said Vikramjit Singh, DCP (Outer).
