: A demonstration was staged outside the corporate office of real estate developer Emaar-MGF Emerald Hills at Sikanderpur here on Friday, in protest against the delay in possession of flats in a residential project in Sector 65.

The protest was led by the Emerald Hills Owners’ Welfare Association, which represents 1,400 families to whom flats / houses were allotted in the Emerald Hills Township project.

“The project was floated in 2008 with over 1,400 flats and builder floors, and the construction started two years later. As per the agreement, the possession was slated for 2013,” said Sumit Agarwal, one of the agitators.

The flat owners have made several complaints to the authorities, but in vain. A complaint was given to Deputy Commissioner T.L. Satyaprakash on August 27 last year and another memorandum was submitted on May 9 this year, claimed the protesters.

Rama Chawla, president, Emerald Hills Owners’ Welfare Association, said: “All we ask is Emaar-MGF deliver our apartments by this fiscal year and compensate us for the financial losses suffered by our members.”

Emaar-MGF spokesperson said: “The Emerald Hills project is a large township of almost 200 acres. The flats will be handed over in phases to ensure seamless delivery. In fact, the company has already commenced offering possession for a phase of plots. Customers are kept abreast of all developments through the media.”
