Twenty-three FIRs have been registered against candidates and others affiliated to various student outfits for defacement of public property ahead of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) polls, the police said on Friday.
“A special drive was launched to crackdown on those involved in defacement of public property. Twenty-three FIRs have been registered against individuals, including those affiliated to the ABVP, NSUI and CYSS, and Independent candidates,” said DCP (North West)Vijay Singh.
Many posters were stuck on metro pillars and flyovers in the wake of the forthcoming polls. The police have urged groups and candidates not stick posters, install hoardings and write on the walls of public properties as it is in contravention of the Delhi Defacement Property Act, he added. — PTI
