The first day of admissions under the third cut-off list on Tuesday saw many students from across the country come to Delhi University’s North Campus. Although many colleges in the university have already admitted more students than their sanctioned strength, they have been forced to release cut-offs again because of withdrawals.
Hindu College, which had admitted 820 students against the 750 strength in the second cut-off list, is now offering B.Com (Hons.) for a cut-off ranging from 96.75 to 99.25 per cent. It has also opened up its BA (Programme), Economics, English, Philosophy, Sociology, Physics, Zoology and Chemistry.
“My daughter has 97 per cent and made it for some other subject, now she will migrate to Economics in Hindu College,” said Asha Singh, who had come to withdraw and readmit her daughter in the same college.
This was the scene everywhere with students withdrawing admissions in some colleges for a better option elsewhere. “I missed the cut-offs in Ramjas because I did not come here in time, now Hindu College and Kirori Mal have opened up and I will be taking admissions there,” said Aashish, who had 94 per cent.
Hans Raj College, Kirori Mal College and Miranda House, which had many of their courses still open, saw long queues and happy students who were glad to finally get admissions.
On South campus, Gargi College, too, had opened up admissions after withdrawals. Sri Venkateshwara College as well as Lady Shri Ram College and Kamala Nehru College were also crowded with students taking admissions.
